Feature: Washington Winery Retreat
A complete re-imagining of this popular Caravel model's interior.
Clean and classic
For those that know Airstreams, the 16 foot Caravel has always been a favorite. Enough room for stretching out but compact on the outside with great proportions. As one of So Cal Vintage owner Denny Stone's personal trailers, the decision to use it for a client project was perhaps the toughest part of the entire process. The fantastic collaboration with this very creative client to create such a great space made letting the little Caravel go worth it. Almost.
Unique treatments
Airstream interior end caps - the rounded upper sections of the walls and ceiling at the front and rear of the trailer - always present some unique design challenges. They've been polished, painted, covered with cabinets of wood or fiberglass and now, with this Caravel - upholstered. It wasn't easy but we like the outcome.
details matter
Rounded cabinet corners, base and upholstery welting, shaped and softened table supports, real wood veneers - attention to these kinds of details matter. They make the difference between a finished project that may photograph well but still seems to be missing something and one that is truly pleasing to touch and feel - to experience.
